We would like to ask you to participate in the second phase of a programme sponsored by BSI and  facilitated by the University of Cambridge IfM Education and Consultancy Services (IFM ECS), together with the University of Cranfield, and in association with the University of Nottingham.

IFM has conducted extensive research into the implications of digitisation for global value chains. This research and the results of the current a survey, to which you may have already contributed, will steer the work. The workshop objective will be to validate and enhance emerging findings in an interim report, which will outline:

  • A draft domain definition of “Digital Manufacturing”.
  • How standards and good practice can help companies in the manufacturing sector invest in and adopt digital technologies.
  • The opportunities and challenges for manufacturing sectors in the application digital technologies and the perceived benefits of innovating in this area.
  • How UK manufacturing businesses can benefit from the application of digital technologies across the value chain* and through the supply chain, the barriers to achieving this and identify where the opportunities for UK companies lie.

The session will be interactive and in addition to industrial input will have representatives from key relevant players from the UK Innovation scene including the HVM and Digital Catapults, Innovate UK, Research UK and the sponsoring Universities.
