Published Document (PD) 6662:2010 Scheme for the application of European standards for intrusion and hold-up alarm systems

PD 6662 describes a scheme which enables intrusion and hold-up alarm systems (I&HASs) to be installed and maintained in accordance with published British and European standards, Technical Specifications and Drafts for Development.

The scheme in this PD applies to IASs, HASs and I&HASs with wired interconnections and/or wire-free interconnections. However, the scheme does not apply to exterior IASs which are installed in accordance with BS 4737-4.3. It also does not apply to portable hold-up devices which report directly to a monitoring centre.

PD 6662 is a useful document for security and insurance companies.

The provisions of PD 6662 become effective immediately. However, the technical committee recognizes that suppliers of products and services within the scope of this standard will require time to comply. For this reason, PD 6662:2004+Amendment 2:2006 will be withdrawn on 31 May 2012.

This is a full revision of PD 6662, and introduces changes due to the update of European standards and the availability of BS 8243 and DD 263.
