This European Standard includes ISO 9001:2000 quality management system requirements and specifies additional requirements for a quality management system for the aerospace industry.
This standard specifies requirements for a quality management system where an organization:
- needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products that meets customer and applicable regulatory requirements
- aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable regulatory requirements.
This standard promotes the adoption of a process approach when developing, implementing and improving the effectiveness of quality management system, to enhance customer satisfaction by meeting customer requirements.
These requirements are based on ISO 9001:2000 and quality systems. The model for quality assurance in design, development, production, installation and servicing is based on ISO 9001:1994.
BS EN 9100:2003 has been designed to promote customer satisfaction within the areospace industry. It enables organizations to produce, and continually improve, safe, reliable products that meet or exceed customer and regulatory authority requirements.
Aerospace suppliers and processors face the challenge of delivering products to multiple customers having varying quality expectations and requirements. This document standardizes quality management system requirements for the aerospace industry.
Establishing common requirements, for use at all levels of the supplychain, by organizations around the world, should result in:
decreased costs, due to the elimination or reduction of organization-unique requirements and the resultant variation inherent in these multiple expectations.
This standard includes aerospace requirements applied to, and integrated with, both
BS EN ISO 9001:2000 and the BS EN ISO 9001:1994 quality management system models.
- Ability to consistently provide product that meets customer and applicable regulatory requirements, and
- Enhanced customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable regulatory requirements.
