What is PD CEN/TR 17401 about?

CEN/TR 17401 is used in conjunction with CEN/TS 17402 and CEN/TS 17400, a suite of standards is designed to achieve successful implementation of urban-intelligent transport systems (urban-ITS) in a mixed vendor environment (MVE).

CEN/TR 17401 provides guidance on the concept of operations (CONOPS) for the introduction and maintenance of a mixed vendor environment (MVE) in the domain of urban-intelligent transport systems.

CEN/TR 17401 also provides a high-level architectural context explanation of mixed vendor environment and its operational requirements, and describes the problems and effects are associated with vendor lock-in.

Who is PD CEN/TR 17401 for?

PD CEN/TR 17401  on intelligent transport systems is useful for:

  • Urban authorities
  • Implementers of intelligent transport systems
  • Transport authorities
  • Infrastructure managers
  • Transport on demand service providers
  • Managers involved with the structure of an MVE
  • Automotive industries

Why should you use PD CEN/TR 17401?

Urban authorities extensively use the intelligent transport systems. Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) include a wide range of applications that process and share information to ease congestion, improve traffic management, minimize environmental impact and increase the benefits of transportation to commercial users and the public in general.

CEN/TR 17401 provides you with a systematic approach for many aspects of Urban-ITS implementation, and all its MVE implementations, and also provides you guidelines with a procedural model, in order to help implementers and managers involved with the structure of mixed vendor environment and/or with the removal of vendor lock-in.

Following the guidelines provided in CEN/TR 17401 you can successfully implement the urban-intelligent transport systems (urban-ITS) in a mixed vendor environment.
