What is this standard about?
BS EN ISO 15614-8 specifies requirements for the qualification testing of welding procedures, to do with the arc welding of tube to tube-plate joints in metallic materials.Part 8 of BS EN ISO 15614 belongs to a series of welding standards. Details of this series are given in BS EN ISO 15607:2003.
Who is this standard for?
Manufacturing and welding industries, especially those with critical safety requirements such as:
- Structural engineering
- Oil and gas
- Energy
- Nuclear
- Pressure vessels and equipment
- Chemical plants
- Shipbuilding
Why should you use this standard?
Part 8 of BS EN ISO 15614 defines the conditions for carrying out welding procedure tests and the range of qualifications for tube to tube-plate joint tests. These cover manual, partly mechanized, fully mechanized or automatic processes. They can be used for all joints even if they are fully loaded or only seal welded as required in application standards.
This standard applies to fusion welding of metallic materials for tube to tube-plate joints with gap. For welding of tube to tube-plate joints without gap, the welding procedure test should be defined in the specification. For other applications and/or requirements the standard can be used if required by the specification. Repair welding should be considered in the welding procedure test.
