What is this standard about?
This is the second part of a two part standard on resistance welding weldability. This part describes procedures for evaluating resistance spot welding weldability by determining the welding current range and electrode life.
Who is this standard for?
- Trained, skilled and experienced welding contractors
- Resistance welding equipment manufacturers
- Test houses
- Specifiers
- Health and safety managers, consultants and inspectorates
- Risk assessors
- Authorised training and qualification bodies responsible for ensuring that welding training and examinations adopt best practice
Why should you use this standard?
It evaluates the weldability of assemblies of uncoated and coated sheets of individual thicknesses from 0,4 mm to 6,0 mm.
It covers welding equipment, preliminary adjustments, determination of the welding current range, estimation of electrode life, and test reports. The procedures described can be used to evaluate the effect of:
- Electrode material, shape, dimensions and electrode cooling
- Material types and thicknesses and coatings being welded
- Welding conditionsd) Welding equipment
What’s changed since the last update?
The standard was systematically reviewed by technical experts to ensure its continued market relevance. This standard is a technical revision of the 2004 version which has been withdrawn.
