What is this standard about?

It deals with the generation of electromagnetic energy from sound and television receivers for the reception of broadcast and similar transmissions and from associated equipment.

This standard also supports essential requirements of the EU Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 2004/108/EC. 

NOTE: Together with BS EN 55032:2012 this standard supersedes BS EN 55013:2013 which will be withdrawn on 15 February 2019.

It describes the methods of measurement that apply to sound and television receivers or associated equipment and specifies limits for the control of disturbance from such equipment.

What’s changed since the last update?

This 2016 amendment is derived from the IEC’s CISPR 13:2009 standard, incorporating amendment 1:2015. The changes in effect implement 1:2015 with CENELEC modifications. Amendments have been made in the following areas:

  • Annex ZA Normative references to international publications with their corresponding European publications
  • Clause 3 – Terms, definitions and abbreviations
  • Clause 4 – Limits of disturbance
  • Clause 5 – Measurement procedures
  • Clause 7 – Measurement uncertainty
