It is the UK implementation of an international Technical Report, developed in response to the need for additional guidance on how to implement BS ISO 31000 on risk management.
Who is this published document for?
It can be used by any public, private or community enterprise, association, group or individual. It’s not specific to any industry or sector, or to any particular type of risk, and can be applied to all activities and to all parts of organizations.
Within organizations it will be used by those who make decisions that impact on achieving organizational objectives, including those responsible for governance and who provide organizations with risk management advice and support services.
It can also be used by anyone else interested in risk and its management, including teachers, students, legislators and regulators.
Why should you use this published document?
BS ISO 31000 provides a generic risk management approach that can be applied to all organizations to help achieve their objectives.
This document supplies guidance for organizations that are managing risk through implementing BS ISO 31000. It provides:
- An explanation of the underlying concepts of BS ISO 31000
- A structured approach to transitioning risk management arrangements in line with BS ISO 31000 and in a manner tailored to the characteristics of the organization
- Guidance on aspects of the principles and risk management framework that are described in BS ISO 31000
NOTE: It‘s recommended that this document is read in conjunction with BS ISO 31000. The core concepts and definitions that are central to understanding BS ISO 31000 are explained in Annex A.
