What is BS EN 81-1:1998+A3:2009?

BS EN 81-1:1998+A3:2009 specifies the safety rules for both the construction and installation of lifts. These include goods lifts, passenger lifts as well as service lifts. By following these specifications, organizations with electrically-operated devices and automatic control systems can put the right safety measures in place to enhance accident prevention in the workplace. This standard focuses on electric lifts with traction or positive drive and a car suspended by ropes or chains designed to transport goods or people.
