BS EN 746-2:2010

Industrial thermoprocessing equipment. Safety requirements for combustion and fuel handling systems

Status : Current, Under review   Published : June 2010

What is BS EN 746-2:2010?

This part of BS EN 746 sets out the safety requirements for single and multiple burners that are part of industrial thermo-processing equipment. Dealing with significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relating to combustion and fuel handling systems, this standard helps organizations to put the right safety measures in place. BS EN 746 covers fuel pipework downstream of and including the manual isolating valve; burners and ignition devices; as well as safety related control systems.

How does it work?

BS EN 746 first looks at the list of hazards, before sharing equipment safety requirements, measures and verification means. It also sets out the verification of the safety requirements and measures – covering inspection procedures, commissioning, shut-down procedures and maintenance. Other topics include marking and documentation.

Who should buy it?

  • Manufacturers of industrial thermo-processing equipment
  • Inspectors
  • Anyone responsible for the design, installation and maintenance of industrial furnaces
  • Quality assessors
