In situations where a person working at height would be at risk of a fall, a fall arrest system is needed so that should a fall occur the user is not injured.
Equipment manufactured to BS EN 363 is designed such that if a user suffers a fall, they are prevented from hitting the ground or an intervening obstruction, and are stopped with a controlled force so that they are not injured. The standard also gives examples of different types of fall arrest systems, with reference to the standards in which they are specified.
