Managing culture and knowledge. Guide to good practice

Status : Confirmed, Current   Published : May 2003

Culture is a highly significant factor in the management of knowledge and can have a large and profound influence on success and failure.

Successful implementation of a Knowledge Management programme is very dependant on culture. This document takes the form of a workbook, and as such is intended to help the reader before, during and after implementation. It expands on the base provided by PAS 2001 looking at the cultural issues that those wishing to develop and implement a KM programme should consider.

PD 7501 is an extensive workbook, which draws together a wealth of good practices for both the director and the implementing manager.
The chapters develop from a more basic understanding of the relationship between culture and KM, building into an appreciation of the management of complex interactions in organizations and how that will affect KM strategy and implementation.
