Abstract
This part of BS 5228 supplements the information given in BS 5228-1, with information relevant to piling works. This British Standard sets recommendations for noise and vibration control measures which can be adopted to ensure good practice and enable piling to be carried out economically with as little disturbance to the community as is practicable.
Section 2 in this standard contains recommendations relating to noise control. Section 3 contains recommendations for the mitigating of the effects of ground-borne vibration.
This British Standard is concerned with all works associated with piling operations on sites where temporary or permanent foundations or ground stability requirements are to be met by the installation of piles by any of the recognized techniques.

This British Standard is a revision of BS 5228-4:1986, which is withdrawn.
