Status : Current, Confirmed   Published : September 1976

What is BS 3947:1976?

BS 3947:1976 specifies the requirements for liquid chlorine that is used in industrial environments. This standard includes methods for sampling, determination of chlorine content, water content, residue on evaporation and nitrogen trichloride content.

How does it work?

The methods of sampling set out in this standard should be used, as appropriate, for the purposes of the specification. BS 3947:1976 also requires that the chlorine content of the vaporised liquid be no less than 99.5% when using the test method set out in appendix B. The standard also covers water content, residue on evaporation and packaging and marking.

Who should buy it?

  • Inspectors
  • Regulatory bodies
  • Chemical engineers
  • Industrial engineers
