The two renowned business continuity management standards are now available together in pocket size durable format.

ISO 22301 and ISO 22313 are part of a suite of standards that have been developed to achieve greater societal security. With the arrival of these internationally recognised BCM standards last year, organizations have been able to implement business continuity management systems (BCMS) across different geographical regions and be assured that these are aligned to the same standards.

ISO 22301 Societal Security – Business continuity management systems – Requirements

This standard specifies requirements for setting up and managing an effective BCMS.

It is used by internal and external parties to assess an organization’s ability to meet regulatory and customer requirements, as well as its own. It contains requirements that can be objectively audited and therefore be used to provide assurance to interested parties that an appropriate BCMS is in place to manage recovery following a disruptive incident.

Certification provides an additional level of assurance to clients and customers that business continuity is placed in high regard by the organization and is managed effectively.

ISO 22313 Societal Security – Business continuity management systems – Guidance

This standard is the guidance document which supports the requirements of ISO 22301.

It describes good practice guidelines and recommendations which organizations may adopt to ensure their BCM programme aligns with internationally recognized best practices. The guidance is not a specification for BCM and an organization can choose whether they wish to follow it in full or in part.

ISO 22301 and ISO 22313 allow organizations to offer their customers and client’s greater assurance that they will be capable of maintaining continuity of operations if they suffer disruptive incidents.

The standards specify the requirements to:

  • Identify crucial risk factors already affecting your business
  • Understand your organization’s needs and obligations
  • Establish, implement and maintain your BCMS
  • Measure your organization’s overall capability to manage disruptive incidents
  • Guarantee conformity with stated business continuity policy.

You can carry this handy version with you wherever you may be; ideal for those who make regular reference to the standards or use them on site.
