What is this standard about?

This international standard gives an overview of the principles of quality management. It covers such topics as leadership, customer focus and the process approach which ISO 9001 and all other newly revised related ISO management systems use.

Who is this standard for?

  • Any organization, large or small, interested in implementing a quality management system
  • All CEOs, finance directors, senior management team
  • Assessors, auditors, regulators, certification/registration bodies
  • Training industry
  • Quality industry

Why should you use this standard?

ISO 9000 is a normative reference for ISO 9001:2015, which means it must be used to understand the technical definition of key terms. ISO 9001:2015 does not contain any of these technical definitions, making ISO 9000 essential for users to fully understand ISO 9001.  ISO 9000 is also the source document for definitions of technical terms in all of the other ISO quality standards.

The BS EN ISO 9000 family of standards is primarily concerned with quality management – outlining what an organization can do to ensure that its products or services satisfy customer requirements and comply with any applicable regulations.

What’s changed since the last update?

  • The standard now includes all of the latest terms and definitions required to implement a revised quality management system to the requirements of ISO 9001:2015
  • The 2015 update is a major revision to ensure that this hugely popular standard continues to serve organizations and maintain its relevance in today’s market place, while meeting the technological, business and international challenges of the future
