What is BS EN 1997-2:2007?
BS EN 1997-2 sets out the rules for the planning and reporting of ground investigations, the general requirements for a number of commonly used laboratory and field tests, as well as the interpretation of soil test results. The standard also looks at the derivation of the values of geotechnical parameters and coefficients during construction engineering works. The application of field testing results to design is also covered in BS EN 1997-2.
How does it work?
BS EN 1997-2 looks a variety of aspects that should be taken into account when planning ground investigations, such as construction materials and groundwater. The standard also describes soil and rock sampling, as well as groundwater measurements. Other topics include field testing in soil and rock, laboratory tests and doing a ground investigation report.
