What is BS EN 1991-1-1:2002?
As part of the Eurocode 1 series, BS EN 1991-1-1 gives best-practice design guidelines and actions for the structural design of buildings and civil engineering works. These include the geotechnical aspects for the densities of construction materials and stored materials; self-weight of construction works; and imposed loading for buildings.
How does it work?
BS EN 1991-1-1 first explains the classification of actions, distinguishing between self-weight and imposed loads. The standard then defines design situations, before moving on to the densities of construction and stored materials. It concludes with the self-weight of construction works and imposed loads on buildings.
