Evidential weight & legal admissibility of electronic information

If a document is to be admissible in court, its authenticity must be beyond question. Organizations that process large volumes of data therefore need to maximise the reliability of the electronic information they manage, whilst minimising the risk of its long-term storage.

BSI has previously produced guidance in this area in the form of a Code of Practice (BIP 0008, available in 3 parts) and has now published a British Standard (BS 10008 Evidential weight and legal admissibility of electronic information), which more formally specifies the requirements for the implementation and operation of electronic document management systems.
