What is BS EN 55024:2010?
BS EN 55024 specifies the requirements for the electromagnetic immunity of information technology equipment, including telecommunication systems, printing and photocopying machines, and facsimile technology. This standard looks at all the relevant tests, test levels, product operating conditions and assessment criteria in relation to continuous and transient conducted and radiated disturbances. The main objective of BS EN 55024 is to help you achieve the right level of intrinsic immunity – so communication equipment operates smoothly in the working environment.
How does it work?
BS EN 55024 starts by looking at the requirements for immunity testing, including electrostatic discharges, electrical fast transients and continuous radio frequency disturbances. This standard also covers performance testing and sets out various performance criteria. It concludes with the immunity requirements for telecommunication systems, data processing equipment, computer terminals and automatic teller machines.
