Scheme for applying European Standards in installing and maintaining intruder and hold-up alarm systems.

Abstract

This Published Document describes a scheme which enables intruder and hold-up alarm systems to be installed and maintained in accordance with published European Standards, draft European Standards, and European Technical Specifications. The supplementary provisions concerning aspects not included in those European Standards and recommendations for the application of prEN 50131-1 are given in annexes to this document.

The scheme described in this document applies to intruder and hold-up alarm systems with wired interconnections and/or wire-free interconnections. The scheme does not apply to exterior intruder alarm systems or exterior deterrent systems which are installed in accordance with BS 4737-4.3 and BS 7992 respectively.

This document has been drawn up to enable users, specifiers and insurance companies to specify, and security companies to install, the intruder and hold-up alarm systems.

History and related standards

This Published Document supersedes PD 6662:2000, which is withdrawn.

PD 6662:2004 describes a scheme which enables intruder and hold-up alarm systems to be installed and maintained in accordance with published European Standards, draft European Standards, and European Technical Specifications. 

The scheme described in this publication applies to intruder and hold-up alarm systems with wired interconnections and/or wire-free interconnections.
