Executive summary

Safety recommendations for vertical use of glass and plastics glazing sheet materials in locations likely to be subject to accidental human impact.

Abstract

This British Standard, a part of the BS 6262 series, provides safety recommendations for the vertical use of glass and plastics glazing sheet materials in locations likely to be subject to accidental human impact. The recommendations are intended to reduce impact related injuries and in particular the risk of cutting and piercing injuries.

Recommendations and guidance are given on general safety considerations, design considerations, impact performance, marking for safety glazing, critical locations, permanent screen protection, manifestation and specialist glazing products.

This British Standard does not deal with the subject of workmanship for glazing as this is covered by BS 8000-7.
