ASME

ASME BPVC 2010 now available for pre-order

ASME is one of the world's most important boiler and pressure vessel codes (BPVC).

The codes are produced by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). ASME is a not-for-profit membership organization so they only exist to help you. The ASME codes were produced to enable collaboration and share knowledge and skills across all engineering areas.

ASME establishes rules of safety governing the design, fabrication, maintenance and inspection of boilers and pressure vessels. It also covers power producing machines (and associated subsystems) and nuclear power plant components. The objective of the rules is to provide a margin for deterioration in service.

It’s all about safety!

ASME BPVC was launched in 1914 and is written by a group of more than 1000 technical experts in boiler and pressure vessels. ASME BPVC helps manufacturers ensure that the industrial and residential boilers and pressure vessels they manufacture are safe, reliable and efficient. Who better to help manufacturers than the world’s experts?

ASME BPVC is now adopted in part or in its entirety, by all 50 states and numerous municipalities and territories of the United States and all the provinces of Canada. More than 92,000 copies of the BPVC are in use in 100 countries around the world, with translations in a number of international languages.

Pre-order the 2013 ASME BPVC before 31 March 2013 for your early bird discount

When updating the ASME codes the committee of technical experts considered technological advances including materials, construction, methods of fabrication, inspection, certification, and overpressure protection.

The 2013 Edition of the codes includes a No Addenda Service. This means that all changes are incorporated into the appropriate page and each affected area is identified with a designator corresponding to the new Edition. Each Section of the 2013 Edition includes a summary of changes that lists the material affected by the change, plus the nature of the change.

With the release of the 2013 ASME BPVC, the Code will be moving from a three-year to a two-year cycle. The change to the two-year cycle, made at the request of industry, will help certificate holders to comply with the Code.
