Explosive atmospheres

Designing, manufacturing, installing, inspecting and maintaining electrical equipment can be a complex process, especially where safety is a critical attribute. Add the element of a gaseous environment and the process becomes even more intricate as the risk of a single spark could trigger a potentially explosive scenario.

Explosive atmospheres in the workplace can be caused by flammable gases, mists or vapours or by combustible dusts. Explosions can cause loss of life and serious injuries as well as significant damage. BSI's guidance and standards can help you avoid a potentially explosive scenario.
