Non Automatic Weighing Instruments
Non Automatic Weighing Instruments (NAWI’s) are weighing instruments that require the action of gravity to determine the mass and require the intervention of an operator during weighing.
When this type of instrument is first placed on the EU market and put into use in EU member states, they must comply with the Non-Automatic Weighing Instrument Directive 90/384/EEC as amended by Directive 93/68/EEC.
In the UK the Directive has been implemented through the Non-Automatic Weighing Instrument Regulations 2000 (SI 2000/323).
You can comply with the standard by ensuring your products conform to:
BS EN 45501:1994
