BS 3632:2015 Residential park homes. Specification
BS 3632:2015 specifies how to manufacture residential park homes and lodges to ensure they are safe and fit for purpose. The changes to BS 3632 are designed to help manufacturers produce more energy efficient homes that will cost less to run and be more comfortable to live in.
What does BS 3632:2015 cover?
BS 3632 gives the minimum specification for residential park homes in terms of ventilation, thermal insulation, stability once sited, room sizes, etc.
Without the standard, some manufacturers would use building regulations, which are not best-suited to this product. Others might assemble basic products that would not be built to any known standard and which could lead to unsafe products.
What’s new on BS 3632:2015?
The 2005 review didn’t take into account increases in required energy efficiency, nor improvements in technology.
Manufacturers will now produce more energy efficient homes as there is a grading system built into the new standard where the Heat Loss Parameter is set at the very high level of 3.
As well, spread of flames will include reference to the new Euroclass rating system used in Europe.
Who is the standard for?
The standard is relevant to:
- Designers and manufacturers of residential park homes and lodges
- Contractors of residential park homes and lodges
- Specialist sub-contractors of residential park homes and lodges
- Customers of residential park homes and lodges
