What is BS OHSAS 18002:2008?

Organizations are under constant pressure to demonstrate sound occupational safety and show that their health and safety management systems are up to standard. They also need to control their occupational safety hazards, and operate in line with their health and safety policies. BS OHSAS 18002 specifies all the essential elements to help organizations implement an effective occupational health and safety management system that can be integrated with other management operations. By complying with this standard, organizations can boost their planning and policy formation to achieve occupational health and safety, as well as their economic objectives.

It also takes legal requirements and risk assessments into account, and applies to all types and sizes of organizations – accommodating diverse geographical, cultural and social conditions.
