BS EN 60079-10-1:2015
Organizations that operate in areas with dangerous quantities and concentrations of flammable gas should implement the right protective measures to reduce the risk of explosions. BS EN 60079-10-1:2009 sets out the essential criteria to assess hazards and give guidance on control parameters which can be used to reduce these risks. The standard also gives best practice recommendations relating to the instalment of electrical equipment to ensure electrical safety in explosive atmospheres.
BS EN 60079-10-1:2009 first looks at the general safety principles and hazardous area classifications, before defining the type and extent of zones. It gives a comprehensive explanation of ventilation – including the main types, degree and availability. The standard also shares best practice examples of sources of release and release rates.
